Stamping with texture paste

Hey GoGoers, it’s the end of the month, so it’s time for me to share my latest project with you.  At the time of this going live, I will be at the fabulous March GoGo Getaway getting my scrap on and teaching some classes to the lovely delegates.

Back to my project and I have been stamping with texture paste which is a technique that Niki taught at a recent Dayaway.  This is my finished layout and I’ve detailed below how I’ve achieved the technique.

Firstly, let me give you some advice – wash your stamps very quickly after doing this and a toothbrush helps to get into the crevices and keep them clean. I started with some texture paste – I tried some thick paste, but it didn’t work well at all, so I switched to a thinner paste and a very simple heart stamp. I stamped the heart over the background – here’s a close up so that you can see how they turn out.

I actually wish I’d added a few more as several were covered when I added my photo and embellishments, but I do like the effect, especially when I put some watered down acrylic paint over them using the packaging technique to create a mixed media background.

I added some ripped papers down the side of the page and layered the photo with some papers and project life cards and surrounded it with flowers fussy cut from a Carta Bella Flower Garden paper. I added a few more embellishments and the layout was done. Here are a couple more close ups.

Thanks for looking – I hope it inspires you to try this technique, I will definitely give it a try again. Until next month….
