Hi GoGo fans! I’m back with a new layout inspired by Sarah’s fab class at the October GoGo Getaway 2018 where she used the lovely Vicki Boutin acrylic paints…
I decided to show you how I use paint to soften down a bright background… I love this patterned paper from the Simple Stories ‘Dream Big’ collection but felt it was just too busy when I layered up my photo onto it.
I took some white acrylic paint and dry brushed it in a diamond shape over the centre of the patterned paper as I knew this was where I wanted to place my photo and embellishments. You can see in this photo how the white paint really did soften down the background when you compare it against a non-painted piece.
Once it was dry I splattered on some watered down pink, teal, orange and yellow paint over the whiter base (to match the colours in the patterned paper).
I layered up my photos with some of the coordinating patterned papers and an older piece of vellum from my stash.
Then I added some of the lovely matching embellishments from the ‘Dream Big’ collection along with some sequins from my stash.
My ‘sparkle’ title was a cutfile from the Silhouette store that I cut from some white glitter card that I had.
Hope you are inspired to try using acrylic paint to change a busy patterned paper background! Please share your layouts over on the GoGo Getaway Facebook page as the team all love to see what you create!
Thanks for looking and happy scrapping!
