Using acrylic paint | Vicki Parker

Hi lovely GoGo ladies – I have a layout to share with you today. This one is inspired by Sarah’s layout from the October getaway in which she used acrylic paint. I LOVE mixed media, so for me, this was fun and right up my street!

The layout came together pretty easily and I have created a process video for you guys so that you can see exactly how I did it.

The photo is of my niece on a swing and the colours are bright, so I needed to do something equally bright with the background. It’s a little different from my usual style, but I had fun. I started by painting vertical stripes of rainbow colour acrylic paints on my white cardstock and then I cut through those stripes horizontally to create the background strips you see and placed them on the background slightly offset from each other.

The rainbow is a cut file that I put together using a cloud which was with the free files when I got the software on my silhouette and some half circles that I created myself. I then backed it with vellum so that the rainbow effect can still be seen underneath. I finally finished off with some coordinating embellishments and a few splatters of Heidi Swapp gold colour shine.

I hope you like it – please let me know if you have any questions and I’ll see you next month.
