Chameleons and Toucans and Socks… Oh My!

Hello Everyone,

Hope you are well today 🙂

I am here to share with you a layout inspired by Lorraine’s fab Colourful Life class taught at the 10th Birthday GoGo Getaway in June, featuring a fab paper piecing technique.

Niki gifted each of the DT a pair of fab socks at the end of the weekend in June and they featured Toucans and Chameleons as a reminder of such a great weekend using Shimelle’s Box of Crayons collection and of course, being joined by the lady herself! I knew the socks would definitely have to feature on a page!

Because the Toucans had featured quite heavily that weekend I wanted to create something featuring the cute Chameleon!  So, I found this lovely cut file on the Silhouette store and cut it out on two left over pieces of the papers from the collections. I put it together with foam pads to give him so dimension. I cut his eyes and other details from another piece of paper and stuck them on.

I then created a branch for him to sit on and hand cut that and some leaves and added it all to the page. I then created some grass and stuck to the bottom left of the layout. I added a couple of strips of paper down the right side of the layout to add a little more colour and depth. I then cut a couple of clouds from the left over vellum sheet and layered it on top of a die cut rainbow.

Once it was all stuck down, I then tucked my photo under the chameleon’s tongue and embellished the page with some of the smaller die cuts, stickers, shaker sticker and blue glitter Thickers.

I added the title “Shimelle Socks” using some of the alphas I had left over! I then added some journaling and the page is complete!

I am so pleased with how it all turned out and really love my Karma Chameleon!!!

Hope this has inspired you to have a go at paper piecing on a future layout 🙂
