Hello… Lisa here, sharing with you my blog post for August. How are you all? I hope your well?
My LO this month has been inspired by the June celebratory GoGo Getaway in which we had a Guest… Shimelle. Discussion throught the classes she taught revealed the name “tuckie”.. a design feature in which you tuck elements onto your page. This can be done in various ways.
When completing my LO’s I will have all of the elements of that collection together. I keep these together with my photos I have planned in a kit format to ease the process of starting the LO preventing the time taking process of matching papers to photos etc. I have a mix of 12×12 nags packed with my papers and items from that collection at home placing my chosen photos in all ready to go. (I do have a large collection of papers that I have not “bagged up” yet too… Hopefully one day I will be able to make a dent on my stash…. Its so hard when all these fabulous paper ranges keep getting released. You will see below how I will start to collate a real mix of elements to “tuck” and place as I build my page. Often my planned LO is not the finished article as the page will “Go its own way”…
I like to have a mix of elements to place on my page to build on the papers that I have chosen. I like to use different textures where possible. I would say that I am not a real “mixed media” user and to be honest hardly use stamps (insert sad face), so will choose elements such as crepe and tissue paper, material and metal embellishments and I also love acrylic too. A great money saver is the use of Nuvo Drops as so flexible as a replacement to Enamel drops.
As you can see in the picture below I start by placing my photos on the page and some main elements that I want to have on the page. I have chosen the scarfs that we are wearing as guidance for the side of the page to place the photo’s as another element of Colour on Colour…
To support the placement of the Embellishments on the top of the page I decided to follow the pattern of the paper adding stitching placing them again “Colour on Colour”.. I felt that they looked like “flying objects” with no purpose before this was done and although quite time consuming I do love hand sewing.
The LO cam together rather quickly once I had placed my journaling on the page. I slowly added layers and elements around the journaling and photos. I find the use of foam pads to add some layers supports the build up adding dimension.
Here are some close ups of the elements that I have “tucked” and placed around the photos. As you can see its a mix of material, enamel, puffy, stickers and also tape. I am trying to make a dent on my collection of Washi!!!
And another from the right side of the page….
I have enjoyed completing the page and it sits well in the album. What have you been up to? I hope you have had time to create lovely moments to scrap….
See you soon, Hugs ….
