August Challenge ‘Washi Tape’

GoGo Getaway August 2018 Challenge 'Washi Tape' Jo BolandBe Inspired by a Product by Jo

Hello, it’s Jo here and it’s my turn to set a brand new month long challenge. For August I have chosen ‘Washi Tape’. I’d like you to use washi tape on your layout / project and upload a picture of it as a comment on the GoGo Getaway facebook thread. The post will be pinned to the top of the GoGo Getaway facebook page for the whole month. The randomly chosen winner will receive 1000 Magpie points (worth £10) to spend in the Hey Little Magpie shop. All entries from our challenges will go into a ‘hat’ for the grand prize draw at the end of the year for a chance to win a place at the October 2019 GoGo Getaway retreat worth £380!

I’m sure I’m not the only one with lots of washi tape. If you’re like me you will have lots of rolls hanging around. I have mine corralled into this handy wire basket, which to be honest is full to bursting. Definitely time to make a dent in it!

I love rainbows and decided to pull out a load of colours, enough to cover a 12 x 12″ piece of white cardstock in a colourful rainbow. Ooh, pretty!

I left 1″ to 2″ at the end of each strip so that I could wrap it underneath and secure it on the back of the cardstock to prevent peeling.

I had a 12 x 12″ Amy Tangerine die cut in my stash, which was perfect for this layout. Otherwise I would have made a cut file on my Silhouette or used an acetate transparency, yes I have loads of those too. I used lots of foam pads on the back of the die cut sheet to pop it up from the washi tape background.

I didn’t want to cover the colourful washi tape up too much …

…so I kept to one photo, a few embellishments, a date and a chipboard title.

Here’s some more inspiration from the GoGo design team…

Niki has used strips of torn washi tape and stitching to create a really lovely background.

Esther has backed cut files with strips of washi tape and used washi with words on as embellishments.

I can’t wait to see what you come up with! Good Luck!
