Hello there. Jo here with a look at a title technique taught at the April ‘Stitched Happy’ St Albans GoGo Dayaway event. Kirei’s first class of the weekend was a double page layout with a lovely long stitch title. I attended this event so I can share you both Kirei’s and my layout from the class as well as my new layout (above) which took inspiration from them.
This is Kirei’s original layout.
The title was made by piercing holes around the outside of each letter template which was placed over the cardstock. Three strands of embroidery thread were used to stitch across the letters and then around the outside of the letters.
Here’s my layout from the class…
For my blog layout I chose to make the title on a separate piece of cardstock so that I could have a mixed media background. The background was created with a large 12 x 12″ dotty stencil, texture paste and acrylic paints in shades of blue to pick out the blues of my story subject, the bluebells. I love how it turned out.
I mounted my stitched title banner on foam pads and layered the journaling and photos flat on the background. I tried to keep it simple as the background was colourful enough, just adding some matching blue embellishments from the Maggie Holmes ‘Flourish’ collection and gold sub title and hearts from the Crate Paper ‘Oasis’ collection.
Thanks so much for stopping by.
