Free motion quilting

Hi Go-Go’s

Madie here today to share my take on Nancy’s class she taught at the day away in Ipswich using a quilting and paper piecing technique.

I really like how you can take other crafts techniques into scrap booking and put on our layouts, stitching and paper piecing are still really popular.  I have looked into taking up quilting but have far to much stuff to take up another craft! One of the methods I like is “free motion” this is where you design a free flow stitching to hold your finished quilt together.

Pinkfresh Studio Let your Heart Decide Madie Ager-Warner

I used three different paper collections, Let your heart decide by Pinkfresh Stuido, Flourish by Maggie Holmes and Pick me up by Page Evans for Pink Paislee – I like the cheery colour combo!

I cut them into 1.5 inch strips to make the quilt background and glued them down onto a piece of card stock. On the back of the card stock I traced a pattern by hand, then made holes using a poky tool and used yellow thread to create the free motion stichting.

I layered the photo and embellished to finish the look with chipboard stickers.

Hope you liked the layout!
