Getting Inky|Distress Oxides|by Kirei

Hi everyone! Hope you are enjoying the better weather after all the snow last week! It’s Kirei here and I’m certainly glad it’s cleared up…. anyway I have been playing with Tim Holtz’s Distress Oxides for this month’s layout. My lovely husband got me some for Christmas as I knew I would be needing them for this blog post…

I was inspired by Sarah’s fab class from October’s GoGo Getaway where she showed us how to use these chalky type inks.

To start with I painted a piece of white cardstock with gesso to give a base for the background. I was using a cut-file from the Silhouette Store as the focus for this layout so I blended different coloured Distress Inks to create a background for the flowers. To blend the inks I used a foam blending tool, then spritzed with water and blotted with a paper towel to give an oxidised effect. I finished off with some splatters of Heidi Swapp Gold Colour Shine.

To finish it off I kept it pretty simple… one photo mounted onto some patterned papers and vellum along with just a few embellishments and a glittery title!

Thanks for looking! Don’t forget to share your layouts over on the GoGo Getaway Facebook page as we love to see what you create!

Happy Scrapping!
