More Rainbows | Niki Rowland

Hey there Getaway Fans! Niki here today with my take on making a rainbow background. Kirei taught a class back in October 2017 where she created a rainbow background using Gelatos.

Instead of Gelatos I used some water colour paints and created a rainbow effect at the top of the page. I made the paints really wet and then spritzed like mad with a water spray whilst holding the layout upright. The paints then all ran into each other and down the page too. I blended the colours slightly using just my fingertip and then left my layout to dry.  I also managed to catch the drips onto another piece of paper and will use that for a background too no doubt!

I had great fun making this background. Once it was dry I then attempted tone on tone embellishments – mainly using Shimelle’s Glitter Girl collection. I kept my embellishments at the top of the layout where the colour was most intense.

I pulled out a few rainbow embellishments too of course – I had two by Freckled Fawn and another by Pink Paislee.

I added a title using lots of mirrored words from an older Pink Paislee collection that I seem to have had forever and finished off with a few enamel dots, again tone-on-tone where possible.

Thank you for joining me today, I hope you enjoyed my rainbow layout 🙂

Happy scrapping xx
