Festive Filters!

Hi All,

Sarah here with my last post of tise year and its a festive one!

I have used the coffee filter technique taught by Esther at GoGo Getaway in October. I decided I was going to use the technique in my December Journal, rather than a 12×12 layout, to show you can use them anywhere!

I decided to use the unbleached filter papers, as I liked the natural brown colour and thought it would work better with my layout. I ripped the filter apart along the join to open it up.

I put some gold paint on an acetate sheet and mixed with a little water to make it more fluid and then smooshed the coffee filter through the paint. I wanted to leave some of the filter untouched by paint. I then used some of the left over paint to add some paint splatters. I then dried them with a heat gun.

I added some watercolour paint to my background and some gold ink platters. I punched some hearts out of a Starbucks coffee cup and cut the toy soldier from a Costa cup. I backed the soldier on the coffee filter and punched hearts from another and then put my layout together.

I thought using elements of the cups was a good way to document this years festive coffee in my journal!

So, all that’s let for me to say is I hope I have inspired you to give this technique a go and as you can see the techniques don’t just have to be used on 12×12 layout 🙂

Finally, Merry Christmas and all best wishes (and more scrapping!) for 2018!
