Ho Ho Ho | Painting Shapes to Make a Background

HoHoHo Niki Rowland GoGo Getaway Technique Pretty Little Studio.jpg

Hey there! Niki here with you today, with my take on a layout made by our lovely Guest Designer, Flora Monika Farkas, who designed four layouts for our GoGo Getaway in Haydock which took place at the beginning of November.

Flora used water colour paints to paint a number of hearts onto a background sheet of white card. She used multiple sizes and colours, all freehand painted.

I have done the same but have used Mermaid Markers instead of water colour paints, have used stars instead of hearts and have used Christmas colours instead of the beautiful pastels Flora used.

I love the effect of this as a background. It also meant that I was effectively creating my own background paper that I could match to the colours that appeared in the papers I had chosen to use: Pinkfresh Studio December Days as well as Pretty Little Studio Winter Joy.

Even though I painted these freehand, I could have sketched them beforehand with a pencil so if you aren’t confident at painting you can still give this technique a try.

Thanks for stopping by to see me today, happy scrapping xx
