Hi there…Kirei here with my take on a technique taught by Lorraine where she decorated a cut file with mediums at the recent GoGo Dayaway in Ipswich. Her very pretty original layout is below….
The cut file I used was actually the outer part from my layout posted last month and was the ‘Bit’s and Piece’s background’ that you can buy from the Just Nick online store. I cut close to the edges of the heart shape so I had a shape to work with rather than an entire 12″ x 12″ piece. As it was already painted with watercolours from last month I decided to enhance them further and used some Vicki Boutin Iridescent Glaze over the yellow, BoBunny Glitter Paste over the aqua/green and Starlight Metallic Paint over the pink. I backed some of the inner pieces of the heart with ‘Pretty Little Studio’ paper from the ‘Dream Big’ collection. I then attached the heart with foam pads to some white cardstock and filled the inner gaps of the heart with lots of embellishments from my Lottie Loves Paper Kit and my own stash!
Finally I mounted two 2.75″ x 3.75″ photos with more of the ‘Dream Big’ papers and attached to the layout. Add a title and it’s done….or so I thought!
Something wasn’t quite right and I decided that I needed a border round the white cardstock so dug into my pile of pretty papers and dug out a rather old My Minds Eye one from their ‘Cut and Paste’ collection that matched the colours perfectly so just trimmed the white background slightly and attached it to that and then it was done!
Thanks for stopping by, see you again next month! Don’t forget to share your layouts over on the GoGo Facebook page, we love to see what you come up with!
