Hello, Jo here with my September layout and it’s based on a class taught by Kirei at a GoGo Dayaway event. Kirei’s class was ‘Backfilled Background’, her original layout can be seen below.
I took the idea of having a backfilled background by using a lovely cloud background cut file. It’s a free cut file from Paper Issues called Cloudy Background and can be found here. This cut file however cut all the way around the clouds rather than into the background cardstock like Kirei’s chevrons.
I backfilled the clouds with old papers from my stash, the dot one is from Pebbles and the striped one is from Bella Boulevard.
I backed the original piece of cardstock from which the clouds were cut with another piece of white cardstock and had planned on putting the backfilled clouds die-cut back into place. However, I decided that by popping the clouds up on foam pads the 3D effect of the clouds would look dramatic and so deviated from my plan. I figured that it was ok to change my mind, the inspiration came from one layout technique and went in another direction, but that was totally fine because I got a layout that I am super happy with.
With my background done I added a photo cluster with a luggage tag, two flairs that I’ve had in my stash for years and years, word strips, my title, journaling and a lovely red heart. I popped the white word strips up on foam pads to make them stand out, a favourite thing of mine to do.
And my layout was complete.
Thanks for stopping by, see you next month!
