Hello again, Giselle here with my interpretation of yet another lovely GoGo Getaway class that was taught earlier this year.
The idea was to create a stitched shape that could be filled with patterned papers. After a couple of attempts to find a shape that would work best, I chose a simple leaf sprig. I sketched the shape onto my layout then carefully cut away the inner parts of the leaves with a scalpel. A steady hand was needed for that!
Then I backed the shapes with patterned paper, using American Crafts Dear Lizzie ‘Saturday’ range. I chose this because it has a few different patterns to choose from and the colours work well with the background of my photo.
Then I hand stitched around the leaf shapes using 3 strands of embroidery thread. Using my Silhouette I made an outline leaf die-cut which mirrors the stitched shape and added it to the opposite side of the page. This wasn’t stitched but filled with patterned paper in a similar way. This created balance to the layout and left a good space for my title.
I also put a few more cut out leaves around the stitched shape and added some embellishments offset at the top of the photo, that reflected the colours in the photo and called it done!
I hope you try this idea, it takes a little time but is definitely worth the effort.
See you next month for some more GoGo Getaway inspiration.
