Hello, it’s Jo here with my Be Inspired challenge for the month of August and it’s a colour theme challenge. I have chosen versatile summer colours; red, yellow and two tones of blue, I’ve added in black for a nice solid neutral and bent the rules ever so slightly with the addition of book print. Yes, I know it’s not technically a colour, but I am rather partial to using printed text in my layouts, whether that’s on printed patterned paper, word strips or even typed journaling.
And this is my layout inspired by my colour palette…
I chose the Simple Stories collection ‘Summer Days’ for my layout and a beach photo from our half term holiday in Cornwall. You can see the tones of blue and the book print on the main piece of patterned paper, definitely a favourite of mine for this summer! The embellishment clusters contain pops of red and yellow with more of those lovely blues and the black comes in the form of my title. For added texture and dimension I stitched around the layout, cut extra matching clouds and hand stitched around the edges before mounted them on foam pads over the top of existing clouds. Two chunkier chipboard pieces; the camera and the sun are tucked over clouds and three red puffy hearts from Bella Boulevard form a visual triangle to draw the eye into the photo.
I’d love you to play along with the challenge. You can enter over on the GoGo Getaway Facebook group by posting a photo of your layout in the comment section under the August Be Inspired challenge post (pinned post at the top). The winner will receive £10 to spend in the Hey Little Magpie shop and even if you don’t win your name will go into the Grand Prize Draw along with all other 2017 monthly challenge entrants for a free place at a GoGo Getaway in 2018!

Niki also has a process video of the above layout which you can watch over on her YouTube channel.
I can’t wait to see what you come with!
