GoGo Getaway would like to welcome Wendy McKee as guest designer for July.
Hi everyone. When Lorraine asked me to make a page using the July mood board I was really excited. I was even more excited when I saw it and It was full of my favourite colours! So…after a little bit of thinking and looking for inspiration I finally decided to use the wooden slates with the words written on them and their colours as the idea behind my page.
I am not a huge mixed media scrapbooker, but I loved the way the wooden slates looked painted and worn looking in those gorgeous colours so I decided to do that on my page.
I chose the colour I had to match among my bottles of paint and just painted some diagonal lines across the top of the page.
I didn’t this very carefully as I wanted them to have the same distressed look as in the mood board.
After doing this the paint stripes looked a bit bare so I searched through my washi tape stash to find the most matching colours I could find to the paint. I then laid them on top of the paint strips. Note…if you are going to do this I found out two things
1. You may had to add some glue to the back…some stayed stuck and some didn’t.
2. Don’t move the washi tape after you have stuck it down as this pulls the paint off!!!
This added a lot of texture to the top of the page! And the colours of all the paint ,washi and embellishments together was so pretty.
I kept the colours the same on the rest of the page as well with the pattern paper…and because they were so bright I opted for some wood veneer butterflies as a neutral colour on my page and a fairly plain title with some wood grain thicker and a wood veneer word.
I also kept the rest of the page round the edges plain as there was a lot of colour already on the page.
Thanks to GoGo Getaway for having me design for them this month. This was so much fun! to join in and create!
