Hello GoGo fans,
Giselle here today with my interpretation of the lovely class that Kirei taught at the last Getaway in March.
I have never used the shaker technique before and I’m now wondering why I didn’t! It’s such a lovely embellishment for any layout and is quite simple to do, especially since you can use any colour beads and sequins to match your colours or photo.
Kirei used the technique in her title, which looks so effective on her design. For mine, I die cut a row of hearts 5 times and glued them all together one on top of another to make the required depth. I added a top layer of hearts which was backed with acetate cut to fit. I added a selection of beads, stars and sequins to four of the hearts to make the shaker element.
For the remaining two hearts I used patterned paper and wrote a message on one of them. I then attached the hearts using a fast drying glue making sure that I didn’t leave any gaps for the beads to fall through.
Beads and sequins are readily available in hundreds of colours, why not ‘invest’ in some and try this on your next layout?
Happy scrapping, see you next month!
