Lorraine here today revisiting Nancy’s fabulous micro cluster technique from March 2017 GoGo Getaway. The team love nothing better than focusing on techniques along with stunning design examples and for Total Gridlock Nancy created a fabulous grid effect on decorated acetate paper.
For my design (yes I’m still working my way though the 511 photos from Disneyland Paris last November!) I focused on just two cluster areas. I really wanted the main feature of my design to be the castle I had recently spent oodles of time hand stitching, so having just two small clusters was the perfect combination.
The clusters were made up of laters of ephemera die cuts, small chipboard stickers, sequins and fussy cut elements. Adding border punch detail around the photo helped balance the strips added to the bottom of the design.
The background features my favourite paper of 2016 (yes I cried when I had used it!), this stunning aqua star paper was a Hip Kit Club exclusive so sadly once it was gone it was gone. A little bit of wood effect paper underneath the castle stopped it from looking like it was floating mid air and by adding border punched white card strips helped keep the design whimsicle.
I do hope that you too will Be Inspired to have a go at creating micro clusters on your designs, they are really great fun and the ideal way to use up those little bits and pieces you have left.
