So I definitely gave myself a challenge with this month’s post with my take on Rebekah’s class crumpled heap! I really liked the tissue paper and paint technique we learnt in class and I knew that bit of tissue paper I have been hoarding forever was finally worth it! I also have an old Heidi Swapp chipboard album that has 6 x 6 chipboard pages so I have created three pages to share with you. Chipboard is really durable if you are going to use lots of different mixed media techniques.
Here’s how the project went:
I prepared the pages with gesso, it covers the grey of the board and gives a bit of tooth. Once dry I covered in gel medium and a 6.5 x 6.5 piece of the tissue paper scrunched up and then placed this on the page. It doesn’t need to be precise as you are going for a textured look here, I used a bit of the gel medium over the tissue paper as well so it was all firmly in place.
I then used stencils and texture paste to add dimension after that had dried, I used some of the Claudine Helmuth paints to add colour to the pages.I used some distress ink pads to blend in and inked around the edges.
Then the fun came with adding pictures and pretty papers and embellishments. To finish off I splattered some of the Heidi Swapp colour shine mists.
Here are the close ups of the pages.
So why not dig out that old bit of tissues paper and have a bit of messy fun!
