Masked Distress

Hi everyone – Esther here again to share my interpretation of the technique taught by Rebekah at October 2016 GoGo Getaway. Rebekah created a lovely layout using a masking technique with Distress inks – 15403658_10153897913550216_5637515274557258285_o

I used a very different stamp by Darkroom Door (Arches) to create a background for my photograph of Exeter Cathedral taken on trip home from Cornwall. distress-inks

After stamping the Arches across the page in Walnut Stain Distress inks I cut a mask from a post-it note (fairly easy with this rectangular stamp) and placed over the stamped images. I also cut some cloud shapes and placed them in the top section of the page, before inking over with Shabby Shutters, Walnut stain and Broken China Distress inks. Once the masks were removed it was just a case of layering up the photograph, other elements  and adding some splatters ! I think stamping and masking is one of my favourite techniques and it works so well with Distress inks, why don’t you have a go and if you do, share on our Facebook group…..Happy Crafting, Esther xx
